Suggestions regarding Frontend customisations
While working on the Hood Frontend , I found some limitations regarding the customisation possibilities RVGL is offering. It would be cool if some of them could be addressed in one of the next RVGL updates. 1) Make it possible, to define the car drop position at the car selection At the moment, the ...

Hood Frontend
In the last week I worked on the very first fully functional custom frontend for Re-Volt, using all the possibilities RVGL introduced for frontend customation in the last years. Navigate the main menu through the iconic Toys in the Hood starting area, in the modern version I initially made for the u...

Re: Blender 2.79 Re-Volt Add-on
Maybe there are easier or more professional ways to do it, but me as a Blender amateur would do it like this: 1) First, combine all the meshes from your w to one (A in Object mode, then Ctrl + J) 2) Right-Click a face where the first texture page is used, hit Shift + G and choose "Image": ...

Re: MARVLE. A Re-Volt Total Conversion
If someone wondered what happened with my MARVLE project: I cancelled the project earlier this year. But I want to share the files with the community. Maybe someone can use parts of it, or get inspired by it. Feel free to do anything you want with it. https://i.imgur.com/b4nzgXs.png The download inc...

Re: Controllers for Re-Volt
Hello Durtvan, personally I play Re-Volt with a controller since the game came out in 1999. First I used the 1996 version from the Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad , till 2004. When I rejoined the community in 2017 I used my Microsoft XBox One Controller for playing Re-Volt, and it works really good. ht...

Re: OBTAIN for Levels
This all sounds very good. I like the fact, that OBTAIN 2 can be used for an unlock when beating the custom tracks challenge time. Also the possibility, to set a different OBTAIN for one of the stock tracks is very useful for Total Conversions. :eyes: Regarding backward-compatibility for tracks whic...

Re: OBTAIN for Levels
This sounds like a good plan, Huki. I think it's OK for custom tracks, when the R/M/RM will be unlocked together with the main track. Looking forward for an implementation in one of the next RVGL releases. :eyes: I missed the Obtain 2 method, cause it's also missing at the Re-Volt Wiki entry . I was...

Re: MARVLE. A Re-Volt Total Conversion
I've decide to write a small Launcher for MARVLE. At the moment you can only activate the DEV mode through it, but other than that it will manage some other stuff, which I need for the Total Conversion later. Also some starting parameters will be set automatically. Guess this is the most handy way f...

Re: Custom starting position in time trials
I really like the idea, but I think it should be integrated in the existing levels .inf -file, for example by naming it TTPOS . Other settings like this was added before during development of RVGL ( ENDPOS, CHALLENGE, DIFFICULTY ,...) , and if everyone have the same .inf -file, it cause no CHT tag. ...

Re: MARVLE. A Re-Volt Total Conversion
just curious, how would a marble from this, play out in normal re-volt? It would work, but it would be also pretty slow. Slower than a Rookie car. I made some more progress today. :) - Fine-adjusted the custom frontend, by adding more cinematic camera moves - Implemented a level selection screen - ...

[Done] OBTAIN for Levels
A possibility to set an OBTAIN code for levels would bring whole new possibilities for creators of tracks or mods. For cars OBTAIN will be used like this in the current version of RVGL: -1 - Unlock with CARNIVAL cheat 0 - Unlocked at start 1 - Unlock when winning a Championship (in combination with ...

You can use the keyboard shortcut Left Shift + F5 , but then not only the names are gone, also the rest of the HUD. Re: Adjusting stock track names
I've found out one more thing while working on my MARVLE game: Maybe it could be done in the same step, that the CHALLENGE parameter of the stock tracks will also be pulled out of the tracks .inf -files. At the moment the challenge time for (for example) Toys in the Hood 1 is always 54 seconds, no m...

Re: MARVLE. A Re-Volt Total Conversion
About the artstyle: I think what you showed in the video looks pretty good, but I hope not the entire game will be so dreary (and probably the first level should be more joyous too :P). The art-style you can see at the moment will not be the only one. Each set of levels will have a slightly differe...

Re: Object Throwers
It means you can select the sound but not the range and other parameters, which will be zero. So the sound will loop continuously and be audible everywhere (an ambient sound). [...] For now I've decided to simply initialize objects with all 4 flags zero. With this, you can already throw stars in yo...

Re: MARVLE. A Re-Volt Total Conversion
Yes, I have to figure this out first. At the moment I try out so many stuff. I just have to get myself a feeling what is possible with the frame Re-Volt/RVGL is offering me, and build the game concept around this. Also, I want to find a visual style which I then can use for the rest of the game. So ...

Re: MARVLE. A Re-Volt Total Conversion
Yes, I took quite a lot of inspiration from the 1980's classic Marble Madness and the 00's game Hamster Ball . But I also will try to bring a lot of my own ideas into the game. At the first levels the inspiration from the games listed above will be pretty big, cause the gameplay will be rather simpl...

Re: Satellite images experiment
This is really impressive. I‘m glad you put more effort into this track than you have planned in the beginning. I think this track show perfectly what is possible if you don‘t think too narrow minded and experiment with the possibilities RVGL gives you. Great job as always, Jan.

[Done] Adjusting stock track names
I discussed this in Discord already, but I also want to post this here so it won't get lost. It would be great if in one of the next RVGL releases there would be implemented the possibility to adjust the names of the stock tracks. Different as for custom tracks, for stock tracks the name won't be pu...

Re: MARVLE. A Re-Volt Total Conversion
My current plan is to have different type of marbles, categorized by re-using Re-Volt's car classes. So Rookie will be used as a marble class, Amateur will be another marble class, and so on. The marble types are based on real marble types popular in the last few centuries. At the moment I have the ...

Re: MARVLE. A Re-Volt Total Conversion
Yes, there will be different marbles. The marbles will have slightly different size and different materials. So the weight will be different, and they will be handle a little bit different. My plan is that not all levels can be done with all marbles, but I have to fiddle around what is possible with...
