Re-Volt is back on GOG

Unread post by 607 » Mon May 09, 2022 10:55 am

I'm not sure how it is possible that there is no topic about this yet (this is still the main Re-Volt forum, right?), as it has apparently been over a week. But Re-Volt is back on GOG! I saw it on RVW. For €5,99, you can get the game legally. I'm almost certainly going to get it, as I actually only own Re-Volt on N64; I installed the pc version in 2006 (well, my father did), when it was released on Abandonia.
I think this might bring quite some new players to the scene. :) I'm sure most buyers will find their way to RVGL, right?

I'm not so sure about that, some people prefer to just play the vanilla version (the GOG version seems to be a slightly modified v1.1), and a couple of comments on the GOG forum seem to go in that direction. Though I guess for people interested in community created content, RVGL will be the better/only option.

But I'm more curious about who owns the rights to the game right now, according to the store page its apparently "H2 Interactive". But they dont have the game listed on Steam, or even their website?

The current owner is Superday, basically remnants of former WeGo Interactive employees. H2Interactive is only responsible for publishing on GOG PC platform as far as I understand (hasn't changed since 2013 when it initially came out, and got pulled soon after).

There are numerous people in the community who do not want to support this release due to the current IP holders, as they are looking into NFTs for Re-Volt, and knowing they are also coming from WeGo.
The forum isn't too active, so probably explains why it wasn't yet posted.

They are looking for Re-Volt NFT's? Well that really stinks.

That's no problem with me. Making the decision to play 1.1 over RVGL is very different than playing 1.1 because you don't know about 1.2 and RVGL.

Oh, you make a good point there. For some reason I hadn't considered that, even though I have made the same reasoning before for the mobile version.

Yeah, interesting! Seems like it's published by the same people as the GOG version... the same people who don't do much good for Re-Volt. I'm sure some more people will find their way to RVGL, Re-Volt World, etc though, through this, so I can't be disappointed!
