Popularity of Re-Volt Zone

Unread post by 607 » Mon Nov 27, 2023 7:10 am

Do people not use Re-Volt Zone anymore? The latest track uploaded as of November 27th, 2023 is from March 2023, and the latest comment, which is my own, is from early September.

Hi there.

Re-Volt World is a newer site and is being updated more and more. which makes it less popular. That's why not many people use it. I don't even use it myself.

As a track moderator there, can confirm there were no further uploads ever since that mentioned date.
The website still works (albeit in http only) and you can download stuff, but everyone seems to upload their new content over the Re-Volt World.

Hello.

The owner doesn't update the site. It may close soon.

Where did you get this information from?
I think it would be a shame if RVZ were to go. It is still one of the top results in Google, it includes many tracks (and probably cars) that RVW lacks, and it's got lots of useful comments.

It's just a hypothesis.

Well, that's easy to test: upload a new (and decent) track or car. One could also ask one of the mods that were still active.

Why I prefer Re-Volt World:
Uploading your creations:
The interface is more obvious and in addition to names and descriptions, you can specify other items indicating the technical data of the creation. There is too much to list.
Currently the archive size limit is 600 MB.
In addition to the preview, you can upload several more photos, which will allow you to show off your creation in full.

The size limit is probably the biggest factor; for some time already, some creators had uploaded 'lite' versions of their tracks to RVZ and shared the full versions elsewhere. If you could easily upload the same archive to both RVW and RVZ, wouldn't most people do it?
Anyway, RVZ probably doesn't get much donations anymore now that it's used so little, so I wonder for how long Zach's hosting costs are covered. :/
