Lego track editor water help

Unread post by Rayerd » Wed Jun 25, 2025 6:47 am

hi all, i'm very new to editing tracks outside the default track editor and i'm at en enpasse, i'd like to add water (with splashes) to my lego tracks with MAKEITGOOD but to no avail (maybe i need something else?)

in 'objects' i find
water: it's like 2 blocks wide and can't be enlarged, also it shows water only in approx. 1/8th of the surface (i would need thousands of it to cover the entire track under a certain altitude)
water box: i can give it xyz coordinates and seems to create a box that's not visible during the race and does nothing when the car passes through it (i thought it was for the sound/particle effect but aptly not)

also none of these seems to create the 'blue filter' to show that you're actually underwater and the 'water gravity'

tl;dr: i've seen some old lego tracks with water physics and a 'sea level' with splash when cars end up on it and wanted to create one of my own

thanks in advance

you seem to be doing it right.
makeitgood's waterbox is used to create a splash and a water noise when you walk through it.
The x,y,z co-ordinates should cover the whole area.

The water object can't be modified (or with 3d software),
you'll have to find some tricks to work with.

I don't know what old lego tracks you're talking about, but either the author found other solutions to make it look like, or he used 3d software.

two of those tracks are 're-lego' by rodik and 'water track' by yamada

how can i make everything blue-ish while underwater like in those tracks? and is the gravity reduction automatic with the water box?

The water surface was created using 3d software for the two tracks you mentioned ((I checked it).

There is no difference in gravity with the waterbox. You'll need to use force fields to do this.

update: couldn't make it work

waterbox does no sound and has no physics in it (googling it it seems it should)
tried with water ripple, it's not visible (tried hood stream and toytanic pool)
google ai suggests i make a fog box to change the color to blue-ish when i enter the 'water', it just makes a flat blue surface

without 3d editing skills in something like blender i doubt i'll be able to create a simple pool :( even tried to copy some tracks' .fld files and getting the physics, it woked but i still can't get the blue tint underwater (and i don't know in wich file it should be stored, .fin? .fob?)
