Hood Frontend

In the last week I worked on the very first fully functional custom frontend for Re-Volt, using all the possibilities RVGL introduced for frontend customation in the last years. Navigate the main menu through the iconic Toys in the Hood starting area, in the modern version I initially made for the use in my track "School's Out!".

Major features of the Hood Frontend:

:re-volt: Stock-like design pared with modern graphics (shadows, lot of details,...)
:re-volt: Completly functional (Name wheel, car preview, trophy ceremony,...)
:re-volt: New frontend music track
:re-volt: You can choose between a PC- and a DC- box layout

Autumn-, winter-, and spring-editions of the frontend will come later. :)

I made a short video, where you can see the frontend in action:

And here are some comparison shots, where you can see the differences between the Default and the Hood frontend.

This thing is awesome! I like how it has a taken-apart RC car.

Can you also post a short description how to install this and how to revert changes if necessary?

Cool stuff! 👍

It's easy to install: just put it in your RVGL folder, as you do with normal tracks. And if you've put it in properly, you'll have a new menu in Options. You'll need to click "Select Frontend" - And from that menu, you can easily revert it, too. :)

I've released an Autumn Edition of the Hood Frontend!

The main area and all the camera zooms are exactly the same as in the summer version of the frontend.

The differences are the following:

:re-volt: Changed colors of trees, bushes and grass.
:re-volt: Added shaking effect to some trees
:re-volt: Added crows flying around
:re-volt: Added fallen leaves and leaf hives
:re-volt: Removed the sprinklers & sunflowers
:re-volt: Added a jack-o'-lantern in front of the house
:re-volt: Adjusted Pemto texture & carbox to the updated version
:re-volt: Slightly darker skybox
:re-volt: Changed some of the SFX
:re-volt: Different music track

It is amazing, Kiwi!
Very original ideas. :)
I am planning to use these for my Re-Volt videos for a while. I hope there will be a winter and spring one! :D Winter might require quite an elaborate edit, though.

Thank you.

Yes, I also plan to release winter- and a spring editions of the Hood Frontend. Winter around November, December 2020, and spring maybe in March, April 2021. There will be snow in the winter edition for sure, and it's snowing. You can expect a snowman as well. For the spring version I am a little bit unsure at the moment, what I should do in difference to the summer edition. Maybe the trees will have blossoms, but other than that I have no big ideas until now. Let's see.
