Triggers can currently only be set off when a car drives through them, but with the advent of custom animations it would open up quite a number of opportunities to make tracks more interactive. A few examples just off the top of my head:
- Detect when an object has been disturbed, eg. stacks of abc blocks in tw1 (Split/Second -style track reconfiguration events?)
- Lego Racers -style shortcuts where you shoot a wall with a projectile to make it disappear
- Analog logic systems using a ball and gates controlled by other triggers (drive through multiple hoops to open shortcut, etc)
Ability to activate triggers with physics objects in addition to cars
Re: Ability to activate triggers with physics objects in addition to cars
I agree with this wholeheartedly.
There's quite a few maps that I wish to make in the future that would benefit from that; such as destroyable objects in Twisted Metal.
