New here, looking for some help

Hello everyone!

I'm new here, first post and all that, and I'm looking for some help. Please hear me out...

I've always been a big fan of this game, Re-Volt is probably my all-time favorite game! Sometime around 2007/08 I learned how to make a car with z-modeler for Re-Volt. I created a red Mini Cooper and posted it on a forum, (forget which one). I also created a blue Triumph Spitfire car and posted it. My user name is what I came up with as a user name back then and I've used it ever since in anything I do online.

I created those cars to learn how to work in 3D and moved on to learning blender 3D. Working with 3D animation is my hobby thing to do. There was a 3D CGI challenge announced yesterday that I would like to work on. For this challenge, artists are given a template file that defines the look of what the 3D CGI should look like. Basically, it's a vehicle driving down a road and making a jump and landing. Here is the announcement - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppTY1j2EpA4&t=9s

I kicked around some ideas, then I started thinking that it would be pretty cool if I create an animation that looks like the Re-Volt game. Give it the whole retro video game look.

To do this, I need some files from the original Re-Volt 1.1 from Acclaim. I'm not sure where my copy of Re-Volt is (the cd), but I know where the computer I used to model cars and play Re-Volt is at. But I haven't used that computer since '08, not sure if it would even work.

So I'm looking for the files for the cars from the game. I downloaded a .zip for the rc bandit car, and will look that over and figure out how to get it into Blender. If I get that working, then I need files for other cars, like the Dust Mite. I also need image texture files from the tracks we race on.

Hope someone can help be avoid the work of trying to get and 18 yr old computer up and running...

Randy

Why don't just put the old hdd of your old computer in a usb case... That way you'll be able to read all your old stuff on your "new" computer ;)

The site where you posted your cars must have been Revolt Zone, which is now closed.
But you can find your creations (and many others) on Revolt World:
https://www.revoltworld.net/dl/minicooper/
https://www.revoltworld.net/dl/spitfire/
As for finding the game itself, have you looked there?
https://re-volt.io/

And if you finish your project, it would be cool if you could post the results on this forum!

Could do that with an IDE to SATA adapter, but it's more like I don't want to go digging thru boxes of old computer stuff to find the computer....

How did you find those? Are you stalking me?????

I actually just found those on re-volt.io and looking around over there, I think I can find everything I need from that site.

I downloaded the RC Bandit car from there and imported it into blender. It needed some work to get it to work in blender.

I would be posting an image but I see I can't upload images here. Pics will be coming soon!

Revolt World is THE website that lists current and past custom creations.
I just typed Mini Cooper into the search bar.

Thanks for the replies!

Here's an image Dust Mite & RC Bandit, as rendered in Blender -
Image

edit - well it appears that google drive image url won't work here. Sorry about the missing image.

Those will be my 2 main cars in the animation and Dust Mite will get hit by a rocket as it starts the jump. RC Bandit will continue on. Volken and Dr Grudge will be cars ahead of the RC Bandit.

I downloaded 'Toys in the Hood' and picked the file apart looking for textures. Think I can use a lot of stuff from there to give it the look I want.

One thing I am looking for is a red & white striped area with the 'Toy-Volt' logo. Anyone know where I can find a texture like that, what track may have it?? Or where I could just find the 'Toy-Volt' logo at?

Thanks for any help,
Randy

The Toy-Volt logo appears in Toy World 1&2, and in the numerous sequels created since.
You should be able to find the logo in question here:

Thanks for posting that link!!!

I've actually been downloading a few files here and there, mostly cars. I've been picking thru the files and finding lots of good stuff.
Testing out inserting a google photo to see if that works here....

And I see that is not working here either... I give up, how do I post an image here?
