Controls freezes after changing control settings in Linux / R36S

Hello! I’m new here and, like many of you, I’ve rediscovered Re-Volt after decades away. I encountered a bug and spent quite some time searching the forum for something similar, but couldn’t find anything. I’ll describe the issue below:
My first test was on a handheld R36S running ArkOS (which is Linux-based). Right after entering my name on the first launch, the game froze. Interestingly, the game didn’t seem completely crashed - the music kept playing - but no inputs worked and I had to force-close it.
A few days later I discovered this amazing community that keeps the game alive (congratulations and thank you!), and I installed Re-Volt on my Ubuntu (Linux) laptop. In several situations I experienced the same issue, though not always on the initial screen: sometimes the game froze when selecting a profile right after launching; other times it froze after adjusting control inputs, either from the main menu or from the pause menu during a race.
The first workaround I found was deleting the profile folder in the game’s root directory. Later on, I started editing only a few lines directly in the profile.ini file (under the Controller1 section). Interestingly, after a few attempts the settings started to stick and everything worked (but I’m not exactly sure which step actually solved the problem). Since others might run into the same situation, I wanted to document it here and include some keywords to help future searches.
I’d also like to thank the dear RVGL Team member who replied to my email earlier today. If it's ok, I’ll quote part of his response below:
“As far as I know, the R36S uses a standard Linux distribution. A freeze after entering your name could mean something went wrong with the virtual keyboard support. It depends on how you enter your name — do you see a virtual keyboard show up? I recommend opening a thread in our forums as it helps better manage bug reports [...]”
Thank you very much!
