When you run the Windows Defender launcher it automatically blocks it, and warns that it is a malicious file. I scanned the launcher in virustotal and issued an alert. I don't know if it is a false positive or if it really has malware. It doesn't give me confidence. Oh, and the launcher that I analyzed it was Windows 64 bit

If you are downloading the launcher from https://rvgl.org/, then it's false positive. Also, VirusTotal utilizes multiple AV systems, so it's even more likely you will see at least one false positive reported.
Otherwise, if can't trust it still, there's always an option to get a direct RVGL build without the launcher.
